Did you know that yesterday was World Baking Day? It’s no surprise, given that it seems like every food has its own day: August 2nd is National Ice Cream Day, April 26th is National Pretzel Day, and October 1st is World Vegetarian Day. I’m not sure who determined all of these “holidays,” but I love any reason to celebrate food.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love a good sweet treat.  More specifically, I’m a huge cookie and carrot cake fan.  I love simple baked goods.  As much as I love these decadent goodies, I keep the indulgences occasional and have a newfound love for “healthified” desserts.  Even though these healthified treats have nourishing and healthy ingredients, they are still desserts and should be treated as such.

One of my favorite foodie trends right now is raw food. I don’t think that I could eat a completely raw diet, but I love experimenting with new ways of cooking and eating. A Raw diet consists of raw vegan foods that have not been heated above 115 degrees Fahrenheit or 46 degrees Celcius, as raw foodists believe that foods lose their nutritional value when cooked.

In honor of World Baking Day, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite raw dessert recipes from around the web.  How can you celebrate baking without using the oven, you may ask? I promise you, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Chia Caramel Pecan Pie This scrumptious concoction by This Rawsome Vegan Life is a cross between a Canadian holiday staple, butter tarts, and American Thanksgiving favorite, pecan pie.  You’d never know the crust is butter free! (photographed above)

Raw Vegan Oreos A great twist on a childhood favorite by Bake and Destroy, filled with good for you ingredients like coconut oil and cashews, these cookies will make you feel like a kid again. Take it to the next level and enjoy with a cold class of almond milk!

Avocado Lime Cheesecake Every New Yorker I know loves their cheesecake, and every Health Coach I know loves avocado.  Sweetly Raw makes the perfect combo of creamy, sweet, and citrus for a delectable bite size treat.

Double Hemp Chocolate Brownies We didn’t forget about chocolate! Don’t be scared off by the word hemp in this recipe.  These brownies by Oolaboolah Blog are dense, moist, and full of chocolatey goodness.

Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble Pie It’s strawberry rhubarb season, and what better way to eat seasonally than with a pie? With all of the nuts and coconut packed into this tasty treat you’re sure to get a dose of healthy fats. Not to mention the sweet and sour combo will satisfy every craving.

Raw Raspberry Bars Raspberry shortbread bars are one of my favorite desserts to make. This variation has only 6 ingredients for both the base and the filling so you can feel good indulging in a couple.

No Bake Elvis Bars Angela from Oh She Glows is at it again and there’s no need for a heartbreak hotel here, these bars are chock full of good for you ingredients.  And is there anything better than a peanut butter and banana combo? I didn’t think so.
